Dear Friends,     As you probably already know I have decided to participate in Avon Walk for  Breast Cancer. This is such an important cause to me because this year, an  estimated 40,000 women will die from the disease. Breast cancer takes another  life every 14 minutes. Another woman is diagnosed with breast cancer every 3  minutes. An estimated three million women are living with breast cancer. One  million of them don't yet know it.     What you probably don’t know is that my mother  was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2005.  It was a rough experience for her, and for  my whole family.  Now that she is fully  recovered, she has been doing the Avon Walk every year to get the word out.  My wife and I walked in New    York last year, and this year we convinced my family to come out  to San Francisco  and walk here.  It means a lot to me to  be able to support my mother by walking with her.   As part of the event, I pledged to raise  money. People can make donations on my behalf, so that I can reach my  fundraising goal. With the donations raised, the Avon Foundation will provide  support and resources for women affected by this terrible disease. This will  help so many people in our own community and throughout the country. Description:
Visto is seeking an Interaction Designer to join our Product Design team in Redwood Shores. The Interaction Designer will design web and desktop applications that interact with our mobile applications across a variety of wireless platforms. This is a demanding role in a fast-paced environment that offers the right candidate a chance to work on and extend one of the most exciting mobile application platforms on the market today.

A successful candidate will be well trained in design, illustrate an ability to apply business goals and user priorities to design work, possess an understanding of both work flow and user tasks, and will be known for having usability focus and aesthetic values. Candidate will have worked as a hands-on UI design practitioner.

Responsibilities include:
•        Produce high level flows and detailed storyboards, mock-ups and prototypes to effectively communicate designs
•        Create user interaction models of key customer experiences and projects, concentrating on end-to-end scenarios and top user tasks
•        Work with usability findings to validate designs and rapidly iterate on findings
•        Maintain current knowledge of what's possible with the technologies and interface standards across a broad range of Internet and mobile platforms
•        Work with all customer-focused product teams to create a superior end-user/customer experience for all Visto product lines and relegated online interfaces
•        Work collaboratively with product design managers to create product specifications
•        Create necessary UI resources (icons, graphics, text, CSS)
•        Work closely with engineering teams to implement final designs
•        Design and conduct usability test plans that map to user scenarios
•        Work closely with product team to define products that fit with our customers' goals and workflows

Educational Requirements:
•        Four-year product/interaction design degree, computer-human interface degree, computer science degree, graphic design degree, or related experience

Required Skills & Experience:
•        2-4 years experience designing usable interfaces for web-based and desktop platforms, PDA's, and wireless handheld devices
•        Experience designing web applications targeted at AJAX/Web 2.0 interaction models
•        Knowledge of CSS and HTML standards
•        Experience with user-centered design methodology
•        Demonstrated work experience in human factors and usability engineering
•        Strong information and interaction design experience
•        Strong visualization and presentation skills (illustration, graphic design)
•        Proficient with a variety of design tools including: Visio, Photoshop, Word and PowerPoint
•        Ability to work in a team-based development environment
•        Passionate about design, usability and human factors
•        Strong portfolio
•        Experience iteratively improving designs based on usability feedback
•        Experience with paper or Flash prototyping of designs for usability testing
•        Ability to work independently.
•        Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Bonus Points for:       
•        Specific experience with Windows Mobile or Symbian platforms
•        Experience with complex, telecommunication or messaging enterprise solutions
•        Fluency in French, Italian, German, Spanish or Japanese
•        Experience with XSLT and XML
•        Experience designing for Flash, including use of ActionScript

Since Ryan and I are unable to do the walk in NY this year, we are
walking in San Francisco instead.  It should be about 8 weeks after
the birth of our son, and we are really excited to get back out there
and be active and still help out the community.

Assignments will include producing high-quality user guides, installation and troubleshooting guides, training guides, and other technical documentation. You will deliver product documentation in various formats, including electronic documentation, presentations, books, and web-based information using a variety of writing and publications tools.
